The Weekly Photo Challenge- Door, gives me an opportunity to share more about my beloved city Bhupal(Bhopal).
I present to you Shaukat Mahal and Sadar Manzil, the royal treasures situated in the heart of city that are the doorway to Chowk Bazaar ‘Bhupal’. These buildings are a combination of Asian and Western styles of architecture, making them stand out in a crowd of traditional Islamic architectural wonders. The Shaukat Mahal said to be designed by a Frenchman- a descendant of the bourbon Dynasty, is a perfect blend of oriental & occidental styles of architecture. It is flanked by the Sadar Manzil which served as a Hall of Public Audience during the princely period. Both the Shaukat Mahal & Sadar Manzil are adorned by many different doors & windows all around. And hence they fit perfectly in my Weekly Photo Challenge- Door post.
These buildings now house government offices, mostly those of Bhupal Municipal Corporation. Although they’ve been run down by time, weather and human disregard, they still emanate royalty. So on your next trip to my city, do spend a few minutes and spare a glance at them. They are worth that much in the least.
Enjoy!
Cheers & Joy, Always!
