GANPATI VISARJAN !

Helloooo…

As promised I am back with something special from the 10 day long Ganesh Utsav. I know this post is a week too late, but better late than never.

Ganpati ‘Visarjan’ meaning Immersion, marks the end of the 10 day long Ganesh Utsav. As per the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, more than 50000 idols were immersed in natural /artificial water bodies this year. I did witness a few and I still am in awe. It is a wonder that the ever moving fast pace of Mumbai Life nearly comes to a halt for this day, every year. Streets, Roads, Highways all are mostly packed with vehicles of all shapes and sizes carrying the Lord of Mumbaikars- Ganesha on their backs.

As the idols of our beloved Lord Ganesha are immersed, throngs of devotees chant “Pudchya Varshi Lavkarya” asking the Lord to return soon into their homes and make their lives brighter and better. They bid adieu with a heavy heart, performing the last Aarti, letting him know of their Wishes with all their Respect & Love.

As I saw the immersions up close at the Powai Lake in Mumbai, all I could think of was the Lord smiling his blessings upon all his devotees, even as he went away. His idols will be gone, but the unwavering faith in him will only grow in our hearts and he will be welcomed back into our homes next year again with more Love, Respect and of course a hell lotta Enthusiasm.

Just so everyone of you, from all around the world gets a feel of what I am talking about, I did do my bit of clicking. I know pictures won’t do any justice to it, but still.

The auspicious Ganesh Utsav is here and festivities are in the air. I spent my Ganesh Chaturthi in Pune with family. Worship, Celebration, Colour, Food, Family , Love, Sharing… these words sum up the whole 10 days of Ganesh Utsav for me very well. So here’s a sneak peak into what goes into making it a perfect family celebration!
