Before Sunset!

Hello!

Our Emirati sojourns officially began yesterday with a short trip to Al Ain, the beautiful Garden City of UAE. It surely is a very pleasant surprise with more greenery around, hardly any high rise in sight and of course much lower decibel levels.

There’s so much to do here for  everyone- Museums, Forts, Zoo etc. It’s a family getaway for sure. All we had time for yesterday was the Al Ain zoo and a drive to the top of Jebel Hafeet to experience the spectacular sunset from the top.

Rising 1,240 metres, Jebel Hafeet is the emirate’s highest peak, and UAE’s second that stands guard over Al Ain and borders Oman.

The ride to the top is not an easy one but the views of the craggy and beautifully weathered mountain all along surely are worth the trouble.

Once on top, all you need to do is find the right place to stop and park ( many stopover points all along) and enjoy the view.

We thoroughly enjoyed a few hours of bliss up there and will be going back soon again. If you are in and around Al Ain, surely take time out to enjoy this view from the top. I can assure you of an unforgettable experience.

Animal Lover!!!

Hellooz!

I am delighted to contribute to the Weekly Photo Challenge – Animals.

Delighted because I simply love animals. My mum still tells me stories of me making doggie friends very early on, bringing home kittens after rescuing them from a thorny bush, putting my hands inside a cage just to pet a wild cat and many many more. As I grew older, I never outgrew my love for all things alive.

So for me spotting an animal and clicking it is not just a chance event. Everytime I am out clicking, I keep my eyes and ears open for an opportunity to spot ’em. I like to capture those moments- some fun, some crazy, some cute, some different and mostly very ‘animal’y. I love the fact that they don’t care about me clicking them, they just remain as they are and let me be me. Of course I do ensure that I respect their space not only while clicking, as I would of any human.

I am sharing herewith a few jewels captured till date. I truly believe that all creatures alive are Special in their own way and we need to Love and respect them.

Eyes of Gold

I’d never seen anything quiet like this one. A slate grey cat with a soft uniform fur and beautiful golden eyes. I think she belonged to the security guards of a housing complex in Kryvyi Rih -Ukraine.

The Couple

On a photo walk in Mumbai I found this couple, who’d just had a big row and weren’t ready to make up. Grr… I am sure the male was at fault!!! ;o)
They did present a great photo opp to me.

Furrr ball

While the tourists gallivanted the streets of Florence, this fur ball just went about his job of sleeping and ignoring admirers like me. I think he was pretty great at it.

Live Life Cow Size

Who wouldn’t want a life so great, that you’d roam about the beautiful Swiss Alps in search for food, laze around in the plains, drink the pristine waters of the lakes and return to the barn at night to sleep. I want to Live Life Cow Size!!!

The Mexican

“Ola Amigo” said this parakeet when I walked passed him in the narrow alleys of Ixtapa’s flea market. Oh so Mexican to make my head turn and demand a very well deserved attention. Sad he was also behind bars!!

Chip or Dale???

Celebrity sighting was definitely on the cards on my evening stroll in Central Park, NY. Chip or Dale… its for you to guess!

True Beauty

The only bear I saw on my trip to the Bear Mountains, USA was this huggy bear and it was Love at first sight. After numerous hugs and kisses and a few photographs to remember him, with a heavy heart (only at my end) I left for home. I have never seen a Dog so grand and commanding so much respect. Bow Wow Wow!

Familia..

I know this family isn’t roaming about the jungles of Africa but the Cologne Zoo doesn’t seem like a bad option right now..huh! Enjoying the afternoon sun, this family of Giraffes does paint a very perfect “Happy Family Portrait” kind of picture. I know there aren’t Happy Happy in captivity, but at least they look well fed and safe from any other threats.

Bird Watching!!!

Finally, one of my favourites. This seagull looked pretty darn satisfied just watching his fellow gulls fly past him over the canals in Amsterdam. I remember him being there for almost 12-15 mins just “Bird watching”.

Hope you enjoyed these clicks as much as I enjoy experiencing them. I wish to keep finding more of such beautiful moments, to see them in their own element, enjoying their natural habitats, wild and free.

Flames in our Forest {WCP}

Hello,

I am currently staying at my parents house in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. They have recently moved to their new house and it is a bit cutoff from the hush bush of a city life. A major attraction in our garden is the Flame of the Forest/Tesu tree in  full bloom.  The area below it is blotted all over with the beautiful bright orange hook shaped flowers. I’ve been a fan of this tree forever and having it stand bright and beautiful right in front of my balcony is a pleasure beyond measure.

Anyways, thats not all this post is about. It is also about these very special birds that visit us every day . A flock of Brahminy Starlings – pale brown or orange mynah with a black cap, fly all over the tree looking for the sweetest flower, playing in pairs and just enjoying the tree in their own sweet way.

Hmmmm Yummm!

It pleases me to see how these birds are in perfect harmony with this tree, so much so that they are almost look a part. So, as part of the Weekly Photo challenge -Harmony, I am going to share a few images of the flames in our forest, the Brahminy Starlings enjoying the test tree.

Magic of Black Forest

HAPPY NEW YEAR my friends!

I have decided to begin the new year with my European Swirl stories. I am super excited about it. I could have done this series in chronological order of places we visited, but thought against it. I wanted to share what I loved most and then take it through the rest. But don’t worry there won’t be nothing that I didn’t like… Overall I loved it all, but this undoubtedly was the best of the lot.

So my favourite part were the 2 days spent in the Black Forest region of Germany. They were dreamy, exciting, beautiful and a list of all good things a place can be. My pictures are no justice to the breathtaking views we encountered on every twist n turn. You need to be there to actually feel it.
